It’s important to find the right company when shipping your motorcycle. Keep in mind, some motorcycle companies will not ship large motorcycles like a Spyder or Slingshot. Here are some FAQs about transporting your bike.
How much does it cost to ship?
An average cost to ship a motorcycle 1,000 miles is between $350 - $700. These costs may vary based on off-road or on-road motorcycles whether your motorcycle is crated by the shipping company, crated by you or uncrated.
How long will it take to ship your motorcycles?
On average, it can take up to 2 weeks to ship your motorcycle. Some shipping companies can pick up 2-7 days after placing your order. Some companies offer tracking information so you can follow your bike to its destination. Longer shipping times may be caused by factors like remote locations or weather.
Can I ship my motorcycle to my residence?
Possibly. Some shipping companies transport motorcycles with 18 wheeled trucks which require clearance to unload. Low hanging trees must also be considered. Most companies will require an easy accessible location.
What else do I need to do to prepare my motorcycle for shipping?
Remove helmets/gloves/bags and any other accessory that may get lost during transport. If you are crating your motorcycle with your own container, some companies allow you to transport loose items within the crate.
Have before pictures of your motorcycle and be sure the driver notes the condition before and after the transport.
Remove the key and unlock your steering – your steering must be unlocked to move your motorcycle.
Use caution when asked to transport your bike to a seller before receiving payment. Consider using escrow companies.
