1982 Harley Davidson FLH Certified Police Special Commerative Badged
Harley Davidson Certified Police Special is produced in 1982 to commemorate Harley Davidson buying the rights from AMF. Rare Classic Shovelhead model to have a belt drive secondary incorporated. Second owner of this motorcycle and owned it since 1985. Completed an overhaul to stock specifications in 2009. The stock color, beautiful Emerald Green Metallic. The speedometer was replaced just after the rebuild because the trip meter began to malfunction. I have the original speedo with the mileage indicative of when the bike was rebuilt. I will include a genuine Owners Manual, HD overhaul manual, parts book, and a HD Police Motorcycle brochure.
Below is a list of what has been done:
Complete engine rebuild – Some of the notables are , .010 over pistons and rings, three hole crank pin (offers better lubrication to the rod bearings), completely balanced crank. valves guides, etc. Note: Broke in engine with conventional motor oil for the first 1,000 miles and now continue to run Amsoil Full Synthetic 20W50 Motor oil. Rebuilt stock Keihin Carburator. Rebuilt transmission- less than 2,500 miles on it- New Andrews clutches and shift forks, Jim’s rebuild kit (Counter shaft, bushings, seals, etc.), RevTech Main Shaft, All Balls main shaft bearings, Eastern Machine counter shaft bushings and main shaft bearing race, Harley Davidson shift fork hats, all gears remain stock and were not replaced. The gears were inspected to find there was minimal wear on the clutch engagement sides of the gears. The gears themselves had little to no wear. Newer wheel bearings, swing arm bearings and bushings, newer frame neck bearing cups and bearings. Powder Coated- Frame, triple trees, swing arm, battery tray, battery cover, engine cylinders, comfort flex seat frame (including springs and associated hardware), oil tank. New Wiring harness, starter, AGM sealed battery, newer starter solenoid, new voltage regulator. Newer Kevlar clutches, newer pressure plates, 5-Stud clutch hub, New primary chain, newer nylon primary chain guide shoe. Newer Dunlop HD tires. Added a Lockhart oil cooler. Note: Never ran bike under outside temps of 40 degrees F without covering the oil cooler, per HD Specifications. THIS BIKE WILL RUN ALL DAY LONG, comfortably, at 60 to 65 MPH.
