Solid-state batteries use a solid electrolyte rather than the liquid or gel electrolytes found in conventional lithium-ion batteries. This design improves safety, energy density, and charging performance. While solid-state batteries have been widely discussed and tested within the automotive industry, Verge is the first to implement the technology in a customer-ready production motorcycle.
The battery system was developed and validated in collaboration with technology company Donut Lab. According to Verge, the new solid-state battery enables ultra-fast charging, allowing riders to add up to 186 miles of range in approximately ten minutes through the NACS charge port. With an optional extended-range battery pack, total range increases from a claimed 217 miles to as much as 370 miles on a single charge.

The updated Verge TS Pro was unveiled at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan in November. Verge reports that the model is already in production, with customer deliveries expected in the coming months. Other highlights include Brembo brakes and adjustable Ohlins suspension.
“The use of solid-state battery technology in production motorcycles represents a major milestone,” said Tuomo Lehtimäki, CEO of Verge Motorcycles. “Our development work with Donut Lab and extensive testing have enabled us to bring this technology into a motorcycle that is available for customers to purchase.”
In addition to the new battery system, the latest TS Pro features Verge’s next-generation Donut 2.0 hub-less rear motor. The updated motor is 50 percent lighter than its predecessor while maintaining the same output of 737 lb.-ft pf torque. Verge says the reduced weight improves efficiency, stability, and handling. The motorcycle accelerates from zero to 62 mph in a claimed 3.5 seconds.
Verge also states that the solid-state battery is designed to last for the full service life of the motorcycle. Unlike conventional lithium-ion batteries, which typically degrade after repeated charging cycles, the solid-state battery is intended to maintain performance over the long term. Verge adds that the updated battery technology does not increase the purchase price of the motorcycle.
Safety is another cited benefit. Solid-state batteries are less susceptible to thermal runaway and fire risk compared to traditional lithium-ion batteries. Verge notes that the battery system operates consistently across a wide range of temperatures, supporting reliability in varied riding conditions.
According to Donut Lab CTO Ville Piippo, the battery technology has broader applications beyond motorcycles, including passenger vehicles, commercial transport, and energy storage systems.
