Spring is right around the corner, and many riders are itching to get out on the road again. From racing injuries to charity announcements and more, here are some of the latest and most noteworthy headlines to keep you in the loop.

“On The Throttle” Is Back

If you miss the video series On the Throttle, the wait is over. After a long hiatus, Motorcycle and Powersports News (MPN) recently rebooted the popular series with a fresh feel and a new host—Kristen Strout of Kristen Strout Racing. The revamped version features streamlined six-minute episodes covering the latest trends, innovative products, industry news, and interviews with key players in the world of powersport. 

As a self-proclaimed adrenaline junkie tomboy, Strout brings additional subject matter expertise and personality to the table. The premiere episode of the relaunched series aired on Monday, January 27, on YouTube, with more episodes coming soon.

Jett Temporarily Out Of Gas

Jett Lawrence, the Australian motocross racer for team Honda HRC Progressive, could be out for the rest of the season after tearing his HCL at the 2025 Monster Energy AMA Supercross in Glendale, Arizona. The Glendale event was the fourth round of the 17-round SuperMotocross World Championship series.

Lawrence currently sits fifth in the AMA Supercross 450 title chase. He won the AMA Pro Motocross 450 Championship in 2023 and the AMA Supercross 450SX Championship in 2024. He also made history as the first rookie to co

mplete a perfect season in AMA Pro Motocross in 2023 and became the first rider to win an AMA Supercross premier-class debut in 2024.

Honda Donates To Wildfire Relief

In a press release, the U.S. Honda family of brands announced a $500,000 donation to the American Red Cross for California wildfire relief—then doubled it to $1 million less than a week later. The funds will support recovery efforts across the affected region, home to Honda’s U.S. sales and marketing headquarters.

Honda Financial Services (HFS) and Acura Financial Services (AFS) are also offering payment extensions and lease deferrals for impacted customers.  Additionally, Honda launched a matching fund program, pledging to match eligible employee donations dollar-for-dollar, up to $1,000 per associate.

Mourning Malcom

Friends and family gathered at Malcom Smith Motorsports in Riverside, California, last month to remember off-road racing legend, Malcom Smith. Smith passed away last November after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was 83.Smith is well-known for his off-road racing success, both on two wheels and four.

He won eight gold medals between 1966 and 1976 in the International Six Day Trial, which is a form of off-road motorcycle Olympics. He was a five-time overall winner of the Baja 1000 (two on motorcycles and three in cars); a four-time winner of the Baja 500 (one on a motorcycle and three in cars); twice won both the Mint 400 in Nevada and the Roof of Africa Enduro; and he was the overall winner of the 1987 Atlas Rallye (Rallye du Maroc) in Morocco.

He’s also well known for starring in the motorcycle documentary, On Any Sunday, alongside Steve McQueen and AMA Grand National Champion, Mert Lawwill. Smith was inducted into the Off-Road Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 1978, the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America in 1996, and the Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 1998.
