Harvv Financing Comes to CPD Dealerships
Central Powersports Distribution (CPD), an importer and distributor of European motorcycles and accessories, recently announced a new partnership with Harvv to provide financing to dealerships. The partnership provides flexible financing solutions, offering up to 90-day terms on dealer purchases of parts and accessories.
Harvv’s financing is available to dealership owners with no personal guarantee required and is designed to assist dealers in managing their cash flow more effectively thus, dealers can stock up on inventory without immediate financial strain. By offering extended payment terms, CPD aims to enhance its dealers’ purchasing power and overall business growth.
Dainese and Turn 14 Join Forces in the U.S.
Dainese, considered the world leader in protective wear for dynamic sports, has entered into a multi-year distribution agreement with Turn 14 Distribution for the U.S. market. This partnership will leverage Turn 14 Distribution’s extensive network to distribute all Dainese motorcycle products and TCX boots and shoes collection throughout the United States.
Farewell and RIP Ken Boyko
The powersports industry recently lost a legend. Ken Boyko, known for co-founding Cobra Engineering and widely recognized throughout the motorcycling community around the world, passed away on July 23.
Boyko had a knack for coming up with new ideas for new products and ways to market them to consumers that helped shape the powersports industry. In 1977, he co-founded Cobra Engineering and was responsible for creating an entire new segment in the aftermarket motorcycle industry. Later, in the early 1990s, he identified and helped create the metric cruiser market, as it is known today.
A memorial service for him is being planned for October 19, 2024, and will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 1441 West Balboa Boulevard in Newport Beach, California.
Pavesio to Take Over Yamaha Motor Racing
After a 26-year stint as Managing Director of Yamaha Motor Racing, Lin Jarvis will be stepping down at the end of this year. Paolo Pavesio will be assuming the role on January 5, 2025.
As the former Director of Marketing & Motorsport at Yamaha Motor Europe, Pavesio led the restructuring of Yamaha Motor Europe operations around marketing and motorsports during his 11 years with the company, during which time Yamaha secured World Championship titles in WorldSBK, EWC, and MXGP.
Jarvis, who was appointed as Yamaha’s Managing Director in 1999, has been responsible for leading Yamaha to eight rider, six Constructor, and seven team MotoGP World Championship titles. He will continue to support Yamaha Motor Racing as a Senior Advisor.
Gagne Steps Out of MotoAmerica Superbike Series
Attack Performance Progressive Yamaha Racing’s Jake Gagne has opted to sit out the final two rounds of the MotoAmerica Superbike season to focus on his health and fitness. Xavi Forés will step in for the team.
Forés debuted with the Attack Performance earlier this year, filling in for Cameron Petersen aboard the Attack Performance Progressive Yamaha Racing R6 at the Daytona 200. He is a World and National Superbike Championship veteran and is also an experienced Endurance World Championship racer.
Forés will make his Superbike debut with the team on September 13–15 at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, where he secured his Supersport title last year during his first season of MotoAmerica.
Puma Pounces on New Position
Christy LaCurelle will be stepping down from her position as President of the United States Motorcycle Coaching Association (USMCA) to take over as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC), Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF), Specialty Vehicle Institute of America (SVIA), and Recreational Off-Highway Vehicle Association (ROHVA). Paul Puma will be stepping in to replace her at USMCA.
Puma comes to the USMCA with more than 25 years of experience in finance, having worked in various leadership roles for the outdoor products and motorsports division of Wells Fargo. Prior to that, he held leadership positions at General Electric, working with companies needing floor-planning financing, which included motorsports businesses.
The USMCA was created to grow the sport of motorcycling through a network of certified motorcycle coaches. Their vision is to create a thriving motorcycle industry, where all stakeholders realize the benefits of a resurgence in participation from new and returning riders.
