Market Sees Increase in Motorcycle Sales for Second Consecutive Year
The Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC) was pleased to report that for the second consecutive year, new motorcycle and scooter sales have improved in the United States. In 2021, the market saw a sales increase of 14.2% over the previous year for on-road motorcycles. “Many new motorcyclists are joining the riding community, both on and off the road,” said Erik Pritchard, MIC president and CEO. MIC also reported an overall sales increase of 21.8% for all categories of motorcycles since 2019, which includes scooters, on-highway, dual, and off-highway bikes. MIC’s report included a notable improvement in sales for dual motorcycles, with an 18.6% year-over-year increase in 2021, which follows their impressive 42.9% year-over-year increase in 2020.
Indian Rolls Out New Scout Rogue
You can expect to see Indian Motorcycle’s new Scout Rogue and Scout Rogue Sixty out on the street in early 2022, two of the newest bikes from the emblematic American motorcycle manufacturer. Gear Patrol reports that the Scout Rogue features a sleek design with a 19-inch front wheel for improved handling, and will come in stylish black with mini ape hanger handlebars. The two bikes sport minor differences between one another, such as engines, accessories, and price, but both capture Indian’s spirit for renegade riding. To complete the release, the company is introducing Scout men’s and women’s apparel, decked out in dark black and grays for an absolute rogue look to match the bikes.
Zaiser Introduces New Version of Electric Bike
The future of motorcycling isn’t far away, as Zaiser Motors recently announced the addition of a second electric motorcycle for sale from the startup company, expected this year. AutoEvolution shares that the new bike by the name of Arrow is designed for urban commuting and maneuverability on the streets. The lightweight bike is 380 pounds, capable of reaching speeds of 180 miles per hour, and can reach a distance of 160 miles on a charge. The smaller bike comes at an affordable price of $8,500. Last year Zaiser introduced the Electrocycle, priced at approximately $25,000, reaching a distance of 300 miles on a charge and speeds up to 120 miles per hour. Already gathering plenty of interest for these bikes, Zaiser hopes both of these electric motorcycles are available on the market soon.
Female Motorcyclist Group Plans Record-Breaking Meetup
UK-based Moto Advisor is gearing up to break the record for the world’s largest female biker meetup at Triumph Factory Experience, according to Visordown. The Facebook group run by female bikers hopes to surpass a nearly five-year-old record that gathered 1,132 female riders at a motorcycle cafe in Shropshire, England. Scheduled for July 24, Moto Advisor is using the event to bring together women in the motorcycle industry, promote the development of industry products for female riders, and encourage women to get out and enjoy the thrills of riding.
