From a young Captain Kirk riding a futuristic motorcycle to a spaceport in Star Trek, to Shia Labeouf riding an MV Agusta in the upcoming Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, motorcycles are the co-stars in this summer’s movie blockbusters.
The Los Angeles Times reports how film producers and motorcycle manufacturers work together to use and promote motorcycles on screen.
According to the story, Ducati and other motorcycle makers often provide motorcycles to film studios free of charge to show them off in front of the camera.
Motorcycles roar through cinematic action sequences or serve to define a film character as independent and adventurous.
Movies also offer motorcycle brands a chance to reach to audiences outside of the realm of their normal advertising.
