The Yamaha YZF R1, also simply referred to as the R1, is an open class sportbike motorcycle that has been in production by Yamaha Motor Company since 1998. It was released after Yamaha redesigned the Genesis engine to develop an engine that was more compact by raising the gearbox input shaft and positioning the gearbox output shaft underneath it. This new and innovative design was called a 'stacked gearbox'. Since then, the R1 has come a long way in layout and performance.
The bike features a 998cc, inline four-cylinder engine that is built to excite. Combined with a six-speed transmission, the motorcycle is fast, powerful, and smooth to ride. The lightweight frame aluminum fuel tank, and bodywork allow for the bike to be aerodynamic, and maneuver effortlessly at high speeds. The tires feature a tread pattern design for master traction and superior handling.
Although the Yamaha YZF R1 has evolved over the years, the look still remains similar to the original style. The motorcycle has been known for its lean and aggressive appearance, and the newest models to not disappoint.
