1998 Honda Superhawk VTR 1000 – Cycle World Magazine’s “Bike of the Year.” Designed to go head-to-head with Ducati’s 916 and 996, this machine also won Cycle World magazine’s 16-bike “Sweet 16” Open-Class sport bike shootout. The lightweight frame houses a 996cc, 90-degree V-Twin making 103 rear-wheel horsepower. The sound of the V-twin motor is intoxicating and such a head-turner. The bike currently has ~30,500 original miles, but may increase as I continue to ride it. Aftermarket add-ons and upgrades include Helibar risers to bring the bars up and back, custom-made comfort gel seat, stainless steel brake lines, Micron duel exhaust (sounds amazing!), Dynojet carburetor kit (no deceleration popping or backfire), Two Brothers PAIR system block-off plates, smoked windscreen, Renthal grips, Two Brothers foot pegs, Sunstar 43T (+2) rear sprocket, EK 530 stainless steel chain, and the manual cam chain tensioner and rectifier/ regulator upgrades (common problems with the stock Superhawks).  All maintenance is up to date with oil / filter change, brake flush, clutch flush, coolant flush, air filter replacement, spark plug replacement and valve clearance check being completed at 30,000 miles. The tires have plenty of life left in them and the battery is estimated to be 1-2 years old. Just hop on and go! The bike cold starts without an issue and idles and runs as strong as the day it rolled off the factory floor. Speaking of which, this bike was one of the first 1000 (#854) to roll off the assembly line. Aside from normal wear, the bike looks beautiful. There is no mechanical or structural damage (no dents or missing parts). All lights, controls, and gauges work flawlessly. There are minor scratches here and there as can be expected from a machine of 20+ years. It has never been dropped or wrecked and has always been garage kept.  I purchased the motorcycle from the 2nd owner who had owned it for 17 yrs. Unfortunately, I am finding that the forward position and head tilt is bothering my neck (I have a few herniated cervical discs). I came from more upright machines (Kawasaki Concours, Yamaha FJRs) that didn't cause this discomfort due to their upright riding position. I can still go a few hours, but not the full days that I am used to.  Selling for $3,000 including rear-wheel stand for easy maintenance.

Great Bike with a great performance and sound. Im the second owner and been around the bike since the first owner bought it. Bike is in good shape, Runs good and has Two Brothers pipes. 26500 miles. The only thing wrong with this bike is it doesn't say "Ducati" on the tank! It is actually a close copy of the Ducati 996 of that time period.    This model was the Cycle Magazine "Bike of the Year" for 1998. When the orriginal owner went to an Aprillla I knew I needed to keep this bike as part of the team.  I loved the low end torque available with the 996 cc V-Twin motor. It's a two personality bike. You can chug around town and have plenty of power. Or you can let it loose out in the mountains and be amazed at the power, acceleration, and thrill it provides. Includes soft bags and rear seat cover.
