In 1967 Honda offered a kit with high pipes and braced handlebars for their scrambler. They sold kits with a more stylish tandk and high pipes on each side of the bike. 1968 was the first year of production. Some items had changed. The exhaust changed to one side only. The engine, transmission, electrical system was identical to the CB450. The 444cc dual oerhead cam, parallel twin featured two CV carburetors. Honda also upgraded the CL450 with a fie-speed transmission which had five better spaced speeds and increased compression to 9:1. Colors available were Candy Red, Blue and Metalic Silver. The torque increased to 29 ft/lb at 7000 rpm while output increased to 45 horsepower at 9000 rpm. Separate tachometer and speedometer replaced the single unit from the previous year. The CL was 12 pounds lighter than the previous year and had more ground clearance. This motorcycle has been authenticated by American Honda as a genuine 1968 CL450 model. This motorcycle has gone through a complete renoation. It has new spokes, tires, tubes that were installed on original hubs and rims. Brakes were completely rebuilt and wheel bearings were replaced. The forks were rebuilt and fluids and seals repaced. New fork gaiters were installed. The steering damper was serviced. The frame and many other items were Powder Coated. The handlebar switches were rebuilt and Honda mirrors were installed. The tank receied new paint and ws lined. Paint was Candy Blue for the tank and side covers. New air filters were installed. Most all rubber items were replaced through out the complete bike. Original Honda hardware were used through the complete bike. Many bolts were reused and zinc plated. New sprockets and chain were installed. All the cables were replaced. Rear fender was re-chromed. The front and rear turn signals were rebuilt and new Honda lenses were installed. The tail light lens is the original 1968 item. The wiring harnes was rebuilt. A new battery was installed. The correct 450 honda tool kit was installed. A new cam chain was installed along with pistons, rings. The carburetors were completely rebuilt and all items were replaced including floats, gaskets, jets. New points and condenser were installed. The oil and filter were serviced. New Honda oil was installed. All new gaskets and seals were installed throughout the motor. At every opportunity new Honda hardware was used. Every attempt has been made to keep the original parts in this bike. I am asking $6500 for this very rare 1968 CL450. Very few exist or available in this wonderful condition.
