Up for sale 1974 (collectible year) all original Norton with less than 2,900 original miles. Insured appraised value $25k. The bike was purchased from the original owner after it won first place for best restored motorcycle at the 2007 Detroit Autorama in it's first showing. The first owner bought the bike new in 1978 (all documented), took it home with 8.5 factory test miles on it and parked it in his collection but never registered it or rode it. In 2006, he decided to ride it for the first time. He fully restored it using aluminum tank and side covers fabricated by the master Evan Wilcox and fitting a Corbin seat. The front brake was updated and Boyer ignition replaced the points. Any perished parts were replaced with OEM Norton parts when possible. MK III isolastics were installed and stainless fasteners were used in critical areas. Within few months he became ill and passed away never having ridden it. The bike was registered for the first time for road use in California in 2007. A Norton factory trained mechanic went thru the bike for a second time and made some changes that he recommended. He changed out the counter sprocket for a 19 verse the original 20, put in a Barnett clutch, heim head steady, Fiamm horns, roadster style headlight, new exhaust pipes and mufflers, and a covenant fork upgrade. All the original parts: bronze clutch plates, high rider headlight, turn signals, choke and cables, head steady, air box, horn, cross over pipes, mufflers, and roadster seat have never been used and will come with the bike as well as the owners manual, tool kit, spark plugs, square mirrors, extra Boyer ready to go and electric air pump. Most parts to bring back to factory set up are here. It still has the break in instruction sticker on the speedo. I have included pictures of how it looked when purchased and photos of how it is set up currently. The bike has always been stored inside and has never even had water used to clean it. It has never been in the rain either. I wipe it down and polish it. Show it, ride it, or both. I chose to ride it on a limited basis and the rest of the time I just like to sit and stare at it. All documentation, original bill of sale from 1978 dealer purchase, verification of history, all work orders and parts lists from both top notch mechanics will come with the bike. Service records totaling well over $30k. Interested party is welcome to review documents prior to purchase. Bike is all original and all matching numbers. As a second owner, I registered this bike in Ohio, the bike received new clutch line, battery, and new matching tires. It also has a valid 1974 original historical plate. The bike went to few vintage shows turning heads. This bike was last seen at the SO CA NORTON HANSEN RIDE and will remain in southern California. Welcome to check it out in person, the motorbike is fully functional. Can be a daily rider but I chose to preserve it and use it as a special show motorbike.

1974  Norton Commando 850.  Runs and rides  well and  registered/licensed  in  CA.  Bike  underwent  inspection  and  mechanical +  road prep  by  Ken  Arman of British Motorcycles in Campbell, CA.  Excellent  candidate  for full  restoration, or just ride and show  as  is. Overall great condition for vintage and can't beat the classic English look and sound. Reverse shift pattern was standard along with kick start. Also has popular Mikuni carb conversion and I have the original carbs and other parts. As far as I can tell I am the 3rd owner and I have only driven around parking lots since I got the bike back in running condition after purchasing it in late '16. Reason for selling - too many hobbies. Will add better photos shortly. Short vid of bike running and in motion available as well.

1974 Norton 850 CommandoMatchin numbers, title, etc.I purchased this bike in 2011 ago from an estate. I'm assuming it was a 1 owner bike before me but I can't verify. The bike appereaed to be all orginal when I got and was red. It was in great shape but wasn't running and needed a tune.  Since then we made modificatins to turn it into a cafe racer although we tried to keep as many of the orginal parts as possible. This is a Norton Commando 750 COMBAT. At first glance the 1972 Norton Combat presents itself as a standard Commando, as it shares the legendary frame, suspension, forks, and isolated motor mounts that gave Norton their reputation for smoothness and superb handling. The Combat even utilizes the same 745cc four-stroke, overhead valve, twin-cylinder motor. What makes the Combat special is a series of internal modifications and a much-appreciated disc brake. The engine of our model was rebuilt at Isles Motorcycles in Denver with the upgraded superblend main bearings and new everything else. I got it with zero miles on the clock, the instruments having been rebuilt. Since the rebuild, there's been a whopping 97 miles put on it, still breaking in! Silencers were matte black so I replaced them. Paint is virtually perfect in lovely bright red! Nice chrome, nice stainless fenders. Boyer ignition and 6V coils for optimum spark. New fork tubes, headlight ears, front brake rebuilt with new seals, stainless pistons and new ferodo pads. Matching numbers and clear title. Fires up first kick, and run great! Also as you can see from the pictures there is a weld repair on the back of he crankcase below the carbs. It's well done but probably should have been fettled down prior to re-assembly. As far as authenticity goes with regard to being a combat, it's the correct vintage, has the 'C' on top of the head, 32MM carbs and the gap between the bottom fin of the head and the top fin of the cylinder is minimal denoting a skimmed (combat) head.More information is available at www.burnupcompany.com$12,000.00

Lead picture is from "Me and My Bike" feature in Motorcyclist Magazine.  This is a 1970 Norton Commando, with all the modifications made over the years to convert it to a factory production racer, but even better, such as adding a front disk brake.  Bike is in almost perfect condition, and runs strong.  I ride it weekly.  Only flaws are as follows: 1.  Small dent in tank, almost unnoticeable. 2.  Speedometer drive in rear wheel hub not working (so speedo currently does not work). 3.  Minor oil drip when parked, like all good Nortons do.  4. Time for an oil change and standard tune up.Only reason I am selling it is personal medical issue with legs, which makes kick starting it now hard for me.Price is non-negotiable.  I either sell for $20k, or it goes in my office.Bike is in Bel Air, Los Angeles, California. You can call me with questions.  310-201-7559Schuyler Moore
