1985 Honda VF500F Interceptor.  I love this machine.  The V4 is my favorite engine sound, from idle all the way to 12k.  At ~430lbs, she is a dream to toss around.  I also think she is one of the sexiest things to come out of the ‘80s, and that red, white, and blue, was the best color combination.  Unfortunately, I am not able to give her the care she deserves.  I purchased this bike around 2004.  She was reported to be running well and recently serviced at that time.  I immediately had to replace the carb diaphragms and bypass the fan thermostat (forcing the fan on).  I replaced the forks with a straighter pair (used. runout is in spec, but not perfect).  I rode her off and on for several years.  Pirelli Sport Demon tires were installed around 2008.  The clutch started slipping in 2010.  I replaced the friction discs and springs in 2011.  At that time, the carbs had gummed up.  I cleaned the carbs and replaced the jets around 2013, but then I noticed the clutch was seized (stuck engaged).  The Clymer manual does not tell you to soak the clutch in oil before installation, but it turns out that would have been a good idea.  I’m told this can be fixed by pulling the clutch apart, sanding each component, applying oil, and reinstalling.  She has been sitting with clean, dry carburetors and a seized clutch under a cover for several years now.  Many important rubber parts, like brake lines and seals, are original.  It’s time for her to have a new home.  Sold as-is, where is, clear title in hand.
