2001 BMW R1100S Light ABS. 21,777 miles. I purchased this bike in July 2009 with 10,243 miles and my wife has been riding it for the past several years. The Light was a special model for the US and only 200 were produced, all in black with carbon fiber trim pieces. It’s not any lighter than a “Heavy” R1100S but the CF pieces, including an insanely expensive belly pan, look awesome. The Light, however, did have some functional pieces including a sport suspension, steering damper, and 5.5” rear wheel with a 180/55 tire. This one also has BMW hard cases (keyed to the ignition) with liners, center stand, heated grips, and the special (NLA) “egg” tank bag that properly fits the bike’s asymmetric fuel tank. It also has a Sargent seat, stainless steel brake lines, a cat eliminator pipe, CF rear hugger, a Throttlemeister throttle lock, and more. It’s set up for a more relaxed riding position with bar risers and lowered foot pegs.Recent work includes new, updated throttle cables @ 20,754 and a new starter and battery @ 19,162. Maintenance is up to date and I have most of the service records. Michelin Pilot Road 4 tires were installed at 19,162 miles. It has a complete tool and tire repair kit, three keys, and owner’s manual. It’s always been garaged and ridden by an adult. The hard cases have a few scuff marks but otherwise its flaws are few and minor. You will not be disappointed in this bike. Why am I selling? My wife and I each have an R1100S and have purchased newer BMWs. This bike is ready to go anywhere. Fly in to CHO or RIC with your gear and take the long way home through the Blue Ridge Mountains.
