Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys: Today Church Bells rang out across the country 26 times following a moment of silence at 9:30 AM exactly one week after Adam Lanza stormed into Sandy Hook Elementary School and shot and killed 26 people, 20 of them children.
Many people feel lost at a time like this, not sure what to do or how to help those affected but one man from Georgia was so moved that he decided to hit the road on his Harley Davidson Motorcycle to show Newtown his support.
Fellow rider Doug Smith from Warner Robins, Georgia, felt he needed to do something to show the people of Newtown he was grieving with them. He called the social services in Newtown and asked where he could bring a donation. Then he decided he was going to ride on his motorcycle from Georgia to Conneticut to deliver the donation in person.
Why would Doug Smith want to make that motorcycle trek? He wants the families and Sandy Hook Elementary School community to know that Central Georgians are grieving for them and thinking of them at this difficult time.
Doug Smith has collected donations from others in Georgia and plans to deliver them himself to a bank in Newtown that has set up a fund for the families whose children were killed last week by Lanza. Doug has risen close to $1,000 and hopes that other motorcyclists will join him along the route. He should arrive today or tomorrow in Newtown.
If you would like to donate to the victims’ families of the Sandy Hook School shooting, then you can donate to the fund directly at the Newton Savings Bank: 39 Main Street Newtown, CT 06470 or donate online at the Sandy Hook Family Fund.
Here at Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys, we have been deeply affected by the horrific events that unfolded last Friday in Newtown, Connecticut. Our hearts go out to the families in this dark time.
