CycleTrader.com becomes the title sponsor for Virginia Cross Country Series, and a New GPX series that has been introduced to the racing community. The Virginia Cross Country Series (VXCS) hosts five races annually throughout Virginia, with a strong following that has continued to grow ever since the series was first established. The newly formed GPX series made its debut on July 17, 2006, and has received phenomenal feed back from all riders interviewed after the races. Local Rider, Brian Bouma (winner of the A class), said "I love this GPX format - it's the only series that gives me the ability to compete on a course containing elements of several riding styles - ranging from woods riding, to Flat Track, to Motocross - all in one event. I enjoy being able to compete twice in one day, with a break in the middle. The GPX concept makes for a great day of racing, and with the break in the middle, it's easier on people, and on equipment".
With the buzz generated from the GPX series CycleTrader.com General Manager, Charles Bowles, is excited about promoting local events and being involved in the racing community.
Tim Norris, the originator of both the VXCS and the GPX series has been involved in motorcycle racing for the majority of his life. He has a strong sense of what riders are looking for in a racing series, and is dedicated to providing riders with quality events throughout the state. Tim's goal is to have tracks, which are challenging for advanced riders, yet still enjoyable for the weekend warrior. Tim explained, "When laying out the tracks for my series, my whole purpose is for them to be fun. I try to incorporate a full Motocross track, along with adjacent fields, a flat track where available, a TT component, and a mile or so of woods riding which is open enough that it doesn't require bark busters". Tim is also planning to launch a much anticipated winter series utilizing the GPX concept, beginning in November 2006.
