MODEL DESCRIPTION
In the supersport liter class%2C there%92s always lots of talk about power. You expect that. What you wouldn%92t have expected %96 until now %96 is a radically superior way to deliver that power. Introducing the 2009 YZF-R1%2C the first ever production motorcycle with a crossplane crankshaft. Crossplane technology%2C first pioneered in MotoGP racing with the M1%2C puts each connecting rod 90%B0 from the next%2C with an uneven firing interval of 270%B0- 180%B0- 90%B0- 180%B0. This all but eliminates undesirable inertial crankshaft torque%2C which allows the engine%92s compression torque to build smoothly and provide a very linear power delivery out of the corners. It%92s a feeling that%92s simply unmatched%2C like having two engines in one%3A the low-rpm torquey feel of a twin with the raw%2C high-rpm power of an inline 4. In fact%2C the new YZF-R1 is not a continuation of existing supersport development%3B it is breakthrough technology that represents a paradigm shift in both technology and performance. %0D%0AThis next-generation R1 keeps all the technological superiorities developed for its predecessor%3A YCC-T %28Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle%29 is MotoGP inspired fly-by-wire technology used to deliver instant throttle response. YCC-I is Yamaha Chip Controlled Intake which is a variable intake system that broadens the spread of power. The fuel injection system provides optimum air%2Ffuel mixtures for maximum power and smooth throttle response.%0D%0AThe R1 features Yamaha D-MODE %28or drive mode%29 with rider-selectable throttle control maps to program YCC-T performance characteristics for riding conditions. The standard map is designed for optimum overall performance. The %93A%94 mode lets the rider enjoy sportier engine response in the low- to mid-speed range%2C and the %93B%94 mode offers response that is somewhat less sharp response for riding situations that require especially sensitive throttle operation. Switching maps is as easy as pushing a button on the handlebar switch. %0D%0A
